Throughout the course, I encountered various tools and platforms that both excited and challenged me, ultimately providing a valuable skill set that I am eager to carry forward into my career as a librarian and graduate student. Among the myriad of technology applications explored, Animoto emerged as a standout favorite. The creative possibilities it offered, particularly evident in the book trailer I crafted for "Concrete Rose," sparked my enthusiasm. Animoto not only allowed me to visually convey the essence of the book but also showcased my storytelling skills in a dynamic and engaging manner. This newfound ability to harness technology for storytelling aligns seamlessly with my role as a librarian, where I strive to make lit...

Universal Design ThingLink Library Floor Plan/Virtual Tour

This week's assignment was to  Create a virtual tour of an inclusive library. I needed to Include ADA and UDL elements to show that my library is accessible. Creating Inclusive and Accessible Learning Environments with Universal Design

This week's asignment was all about Universal Design. So what is Universal Design exactly? Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an educational framework that aims to make learning accessible to all students. The UDL guidelines emphasize flexibility in the design of instructional materials, activities, and assessments to accommodate a wide range of learner diversity. To embrace UDL effectively, educators can follow three primary principles: multiple means of representation, multiple means of action and expression, and multiple means of engagement.(CAST, 2010) I wanted to explore what elements of Universal Design I implemented in my teaching. So I decided to explore this... Which Guidelines Was I Already Using? While I might not have been explicitly following UDL guidelines, I had already incorporated some UDL principles into my teaching practice. For instance, I provided my students with a choice board to express their findings in multiple formats. This aligned with the UDL p...

All About Podcast Platforms

Image
For this week's assignment we explored podcast platforms.  It is Spooky Season so  , we decided to create a podcast focused on haunted libraries. The process was enjoyable, and we had a great time with the research and conversation involved. We evaluated three podcasting platforms (Check out the evaluation of each platform below) - Podbean, Buzzsprout, and Anchor - and found them all to be user-friendly and similar in many ways. Ultimately, we chose Podbean for its user-friendly free version. It was extremely easy. Students would easily be able to do this in the classroom, library, or in their homes. We recorded our podcast on Zoom and easily uploaded the audio to Podbean, sparking our interest in exploring editing and sound effects in the future. We used the free version of Zoom as well. Zoom does give users the option to record the audio of different users separately. We decided we would not use this option. While Podbean suited our needs well, we noticed that their...

Edpuzzle

This week's assignment was to teach my classmates how to do something, and I couldn't think of a more timely and practical topic than Edpuzzle. Edpuzzle is an innovative and highly effective educational tool transforming how teachers engage with their students, both in the physical classroom and virtual learning environments. This blog post I'll explore what Edpuzzle is, why teachers need it, and how it can be a lifesaver when creating substitute teacher plans. What is Edpuzzle? Edpuzzle is an interactive video platform specifically designed for education. It allows teachers to transform traditional videos into engaging, interactive learning experiences. With Edpuzzle, educators can customize, crop, and add quizzes, voiceovers, and audio notes to any video content. This makes the learning process more interactive and enables teachers to monitor students' progress and gather valuable insights into their understanding of the material. Why is Edpuzzle Important for Tea...
